“Our 4th stay in a year at the Mayflower.”

Mayflower is a very comfortable, beautiful lodge, the hot tub is lovely. It is an ideal place to relax. We had booked for 14 nights as usual but unfortunately the alternator went on our car on the way to the lodge, trying to get a mobile mechanic was not easy, we booked the RAC mobile mechanic to do the repair, however due to difficulty sourcing the part the car did not get repaired until the day we were due to leave so we booked an extra week as had not travelled over 200 miles to just sit in ...

Mayflower is a very comfortable, beautiful lodge, the hot tub is lovely. It is an ideal place to relax. We had booked for 14 nights as usual but unfortunately the alternator went on our car on the way to the lodge, trying to get a mobile mechanic was not easy, we booked the RAC mobile mechanic to do the repair, however due to difficulty sourcing the part the car did not get repaired until the day we were due to leave so we booked an extra week as had not travelled over 200 miles to just sit in the lodge or go for walks. We had a few food deliveries from Asda whilst there. We wanted a relaxing break and certainly got one and will go back as love the lodge watching the squirrels play and birds flying around by the woods. The cafe is a few minutes walk through the woods which serves lovely food. The location of Roadford Lake Lodges is ideal for trips out with Launceston being 10 minute drive. Tavistock 30 minutes away, Bideford 1 hour away, Plymouth 1 hour away and Padstow 1 hour away. All timings are approximate depending on time of day and traffic. The clothes airer still has broken wires which has been like it since our first visit in September 2023 but we took one from home to use so no problem for us. The Mayflower never fails to disappoint.

The stylish rattan furniture means you can take your meals al fresco, or savour an evening glass of wine, or a refreshing morning coffee in the sun.

When sleep calls, choose from four well-appointed bedrooms, each with plenty of storage for your belongings; the master bedroom is home to a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room for freshening up, while the remaining three bedrooms, consisting of a king-size with a Smart TV, a twin and a bunk, share a sleek bathroom with a shower over, giving you the option to rinse or soak.

The wonderful location of this lodge means you will not be left short for activities during your stay; the nearby lake is just a short walk and can be seen from most windows, peaking through the trees.

Windsurfing lessons, sailing, body-boarding and peaceful walks can all be enjoyed right from the doorstep, and when you get peckish, you can stop for a meal at the lakeside restaurant (opening May 2022).

For a day out, the Dartmoor National Park is within easy reach by car and offers an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities, as well as historic sites including Foggintor Quarry and Cox Tor.

Devon's glorious coast can also be reached by a scenic car journey, where you can relish in an afternoon on golden sands with an ice cream in hand, the nearest being Northcott Mouth Beach, home to pretty rock pools.

The bustling town of Bude is well worth visiting while in the area too, where plenty more seaside fun can be found and a perfect day of coastal walks admiring the blue waters, along with seafood restaurants and quaint cafés to dine at.
