The property

St Keverne 2 miles.

The Bower is a beautifully presented barn conversion located near the lovely villages of St Keverne, Manaccan and Helford on The Lizard in Cornwall. Situated close to the coast, this property sleeps two and is perfect for couples seeking a quiet countryside getaway, you can bring your furry friend too. As you enter the contemporary, open-plan living space you will find the beautiful gardens outside reflected in the interior design.

Here you can settle on the velvet sofa, put your feet up in front of the fire and watch a movie or just gaze out the stable door. In the well equipped kitchen you can prepare meals to enjoy around the dining table or outside in your private gravel garden on the edge of a vast lawn space edged by herbaceous borders.

If you bring dogs you also have access to a two acre field with paths mown through early summer meadow flowers. As the day winds down, take a relaxing shower in the en-suite and slip under crisp linens on the king-sized bed to catch your rest. Nearby is the fishing village of Porthallow, halfway point along the south west coast path, and there are quiet beaches within a mile’s walk where you can swim in the Helford estuary.

Four of the recently listed great places to eat in The Times are within minutes drive - Fat Apples Café, The Green House, The New Yard at Trellowarren and of course Kota in the foodie haven of Porthleven.

Further afield you will find the sparkling waters of Kynance Cove and glorious gardens of The Minack Theatre with stage productions throughout the year. Nature-lovers can visit many local gardens with Trebah and Glendurgan gardens accessible via the foot ferry from Helford.

Both are beautiful verdant gardens with exotic plants, palms and even a maze. The Bower is indeed an ideal base for walking, diving, sailing or just chilling – truly a memorable escape.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

ST KEVERNE

Helston 12 miles.

On the eastern side of The Lizard Peninsula, the pretty village of St Keverne, lying just 1.25 miles inland, is the focal point for this area, with its village pubs and shops surrounding the village square, and an impressive church spire, at one time used to guide the Cornish fishermen home. From St Keverne, you can easily explore the natural and spectacular beauty of the Lizard Peninsula by car, bicycle or on foot. You will find walled fishing harbours, tiny secret coves, sandy bays and dramatic clifftop walks along the South West Coastal path. Just north is the Helford River, a yachtsman's dream and home to Frenchman's Creek, and picturesque Helford village. A short walk takes you to Roskilly’s Farm, where you can tuck in to ice cream to die for. Further afield, visit Falmouth, with one of the world's largest natural harbours, Pendennis Castle built by Henry VIII, and of course you cannot miss out on a trip to The National Maritime Museum.
