“Previous reviews have mentioned the cleaning, it obviously has improved slightly but still needs improving still, behind sofa it hadn’t been cleaned for awhile nor the oven at all, obvious dust on the huge lights over the dining table.”

Supplies in the kitchen paper towel, cling film, foil etc I would expect as basics Maintenance : We couldn’t use the fire one of the main features of the property the glass had a crack in it and a piece broken off, the top of the hob had a bit broken off and also a slight crack, the main bedroom one of the lamps hadn’t a bulb in it, the blind was broken so couldn’t close it. These were a few irritating things that when your paying good money you expect a higher standard It is dog friendly ...

These were a few irritating things that when your paying good money you expect a higher standard It is dog friendly but as stated the garden isn’t enclosed a fence/ gate either end would make a difference The property it’s self is lovely and the owner has gone to a lot of trouble trying to make it nice, but they are let down by the company that is suppose to clean and maintain it The location is great for coastal walks and very close to Port Isaac we did a lot of walking and exploring and did enjoy our short stay. The issues I mentioned wouldn’t put us off staying again it is a nice little bolt hole and would get 5* otherwise

The property

A mile from the coast path and two miles from Port Isaac in the pretty village of Trelights is Kelmscot.

A former blacksmith’s cottage, now beautifully renovated this superb Cornish retreat seamlessly blends characterful original features with contemporary style and elegance.

Full height windows and a feature wood burning stove create a bright and welcoming sitting room; a simply divine space and the perfect place to relax no matter the season.

The real heart of the home is the striking open plan kitchen with a sociable dining area.

Here you will find everything you’ll need to rustle up a feast which you can enjoy at the generous table or al fresco in the garden.

As the evenings draw to a close, three sumptuous bedrooms await; two doubles rooms both with zip link beds offer flexible sleeping arrangements and there's a double room on the ground floor.

A gleaming family bathroom with a separate shower completes the accommodation.

Outside, a sunny patio and smart lawned garden (not enclosed) await - perfect for morning coffee or a BBQ on a summer’s eve.

After a day on the beach a convenient outside shower is ideally positioned to wash off the salt and sand.

For days out, walkers will love this stretch of the nearby coast path which has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You can explore the narrow streets and pretty harbour of Port Isaac where you’ll find some world class eateries or visit the secluded sandy cove at Port Gaverne where there are opportunities for sea-kayaking and coasteering days out.

Families will love Daymer Bay (dog friendly all year round) and Polzeath; the area's best surfing beach.

Tintagel Castle, Pencarrow House and Garden in Bodmin, as well as the Pentargon Waterfall in Boscastle are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.

Kelmscot really is the perfect Cornish getaway.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
