“A second time at this gem of a holiday cottage, and we'd have come back sooner if we could.”

It is no surprise Castledore Barn is fully booked. Friendly Hosts, stunning views and a wonderfully clean and comfortable base in this most scenic of areas make for the perfect holiday.

“A really well kept cottage in a beautiful location overlooking miles of fields.”

It was far enough away from towns and roads to be peaceful but close enough and central enough that we managed to reach most of Cornwall. The owners really have thought of everything you may need in the barn and were nearby if anything was needed, willing to offer suggestions as to good places to visit with the kids. We would definitely visit again with kids or just on our own and would highly recommend Castledore Barn to others thinking about staying.

The hosts were excellent. They introduced themselves, checked we were ok halfway through the week but weren’t intrusive. The welcome goodies were by far the best we’ve ever had. The garden was well maintained and had great views. It was so quiet all we could hear were the birds.

“Perfect location for us and perfect accommodation, wonderful to be greeted with a cream tea and beautiful decor.”

The kitchen was perfectly equipped and the beds were very comfortable, so lovely to wake up in the morning with spectacular views. A real treat to be introduced to ‘Willow’ (our name for him!) a ten day old calf, part of the herd on the working farm, the chickens even ‘squeezed’ out some eggs for us! ! Exceptional hosts with great advice about walks and restaurants, thanks for having us!

“This was our second visit to Castle Dore Barn and it was just as amazing as we'd remembered it.”

The barn is immaculate and the owners, Colin and Amanda, are very friendly hosts. The welcome pack was extremely generous (bacon, sausages and eggs from the farm, plus wine, roses, shortbread and a cream tea!). The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the barn feels out of the way, but is actually only a short drive from scenic villages and towns. We very much hope to return next year.

It’s simply superb, very comfortable and has everything you need for a self-catering break. The view from the property across the River Fowey valley is stunning. The owners are very friendly & helpful. They provided a generous cream tea & breakfast package on our arrival which was greatly appreciated. The tennis court is great fun too, with racquets & balls provided. I would certainly recommend this property.

The barn was immaculate, had everything we could possibly need and was surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. The views all around were amazing. Colin and Amanda were extremely friendly and I even had a ride on Colin's tractor! The welcome pack was very generous and included a cream tea, bottle of wine, shortbread biscuits and a beautiful bunch of roses. Colin then came round with some of his produce: eggs, bacon and sausages which were delicious. We were so impressed with our holiday that we have already booked to return next year. Val Filmer

I loved the parking facilities, the kitchen was well stocked and the beds was very comfortable. The barn is positioned perfectly for your trips around Cornwall, nothing was too far away. It was quite at night. I actually felt we got more than what we paid for. We couldn't of asked for more. I would highly recommend the barn to anyone. Nothing was too much trouble. The barn itself was beautiful with stunning views of the Cornish countryside. We cannot recommend highly enough and definitely hope to return in the future.

Nothing was too much trouble for them and the place was exactly as on the website. Amazing views and wonderful accommodation. Also provided us with a very much appreciated welcome breakfast pack of sausages, bacon and eggs. All from their own livestock! Amazing. Will definitely be going back next year.

Now fields and woodland stretch endlessly, populated with local wildlife such as deer, foxes, rabbits and badgers.

Nearby is the idyllic village of Golant, where trips take you along the river or you can relax in the riverside pub.

A mile further the sailing town of Fowey with its historic port offers self hire boats, excellent restaurants, unique shops, galleries and beaches.

Castle Dore is perfectly located for beautiful walks, cycle trails and exploring Cornwall's attractions including the Eden Project.

This superb barn conversion, situated near a small quiet farm, has been transformed into light, airy reverse style accommodation with captivating views over the glorious surrounding countryside.

Lostwithiel 8 miles; Polperro 8 miles

This small town and civil parish lies at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall. The estuary of the River Fowey forms a natural harbour, which enabled the town to become an important trading centre. There is a wealth of things to see and do in and around the harbour. Whether you enjoy getting out on the water, playing golf or finding out more about the history of the area, you are sure to find something to suit the whole family. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay regularly in season giving you a superb view of the town, but for the more adventurous, rent your own self-drive boat, kayak or paddle board and explore the waters for yourselves! The town is steeped in history, so why not join a guided tour of either Fowey or Polruan? You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored. If you get peckish, or fancy something thirst quenching along the way, there is a plethora of pubs, inns, cafes and restaurants to choose. Whenever you plan to visit, keep a look out for the festivals, fairs, markets and theatre performances on throughout the year.
