“We had a lovely relaxing stay at Bagtor Granary.”

The cottage was really cosy, the beds were super comfy and the hot tub was lush. There is a fantastic walk right from your doorstep though the woods up to the Moors, we were lucky it snowed when we stayed as it looked like a winter wonderland. We had a lovely stay and we would definitely come back. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too! Thankyou.

The property

Bagtor Granary, a beautifully presented three-bedroom barn conversion, is located at Bagtor Barton, just outside of Ilsington, Devon; this beef farm has been in the same family for five generations.

Bagtor Granary provides a beautiful home for a family of six, complete with a stylish décor and a private hot tub.

A charming setting within the Dartmoor National Park, providing easy, off-road and private walking access to the moor.

After parking up, enter your new home-away-from home and begin in the welcoming living area featuring a leather corner sofa, a Smart TV, and a woodburning stove, which provides the ideal place to unwind after a long day of travelling.

Enter the roomy kitchen/diner where you can prepare meals and assemble as a family, furnished with cutting-edge appliances and dining space for six guests.

Enjoy a relaxing soak in the private hot tub as you watch the sun set over Devon, before heading upstairs and past the custom chandelier, to one of the three luxurious bedrooms. Choose between the master king-size with a Smart TV and convenient en-suite shower room, a second king-size, and a bunk room with handmade, oak frames.

After a leisurely morning soak in the opulent free-standing copper bath, head out of the farm, onto Dartmoor, where the cattle graze freely around Haytor Rocks in the summer. Spot calves and lambs depending on the time of year or arrange with the owners to meet the animals.

When you're ready to go exploring, head to Ilsington for the closest amenities before discovering Haytor Rocks or the lovely surroundings of Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park.

Venture further into Dartmoor to visit Widecombe-in-the-Moor a pretty thatched hamlet, with a 14th century church approached via winding country lanes: enjoy lunch or afternoon tea at the Café on the Green or sample the local ale at the famous Rugglestone Inn.

While the Stover Country Park is an excellent setting for a family walk and picnic, the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery is perfect for the adults in your group; here, you can sample some local fare and take a tour.

By car reach Newton Abbot, where you'll find additional amenities and the opportunity to attend one of the many race days held at Newton Abbot Races, before continuing to the coast, where Meadfoot Beach, Paignton Beach, and Torquay Beach are well-liked options for their expansive, family-friendly settings.

Visit Bagtor Granary to enjoy both the coast and the countryside.
