The barn was as advertised in the listing, which made for a great base to explore South Devon, and relax when the weather turned grey and showery. Every piece of furniture and soft furnishing has been tastefully selected and presented, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely consider returning to Caddaford Barns.

“The location was excellent, close to many interesting and vibrant towns and the coast, not a great road for the last half a mile with no passing places.”

The property was exceptionally well-equipped and all the items provided were in perfect condition. The sinks in the bedrooms were strange and not very functional and no chest of draws in Bedroom 2 and no wardrobe in either bedroom was an inconvenience. Overall it was to a very high standard and spotless.

“The place has been well renovated, and is very pleasant to be in.”

The living room/kitchen has good light and comfortable seating. We had some issues: bedroom 2 (twin) is far too small. there is nowhere to put a suitcase, you can barely get round both sides of the bed. this bedroom is not suitable for 2 adults the kitchen equipment is sufficient but not plentiful. 3 pans and a frying pan for the stove. More cutlery and cooking equipment, food containers (only 1!) and bowls would be good. no clingfilm or foil the windows only open a few inches and it was hot in the house, windows are difficult to open and close. there's an extra button to press to close them, and it's not clear how to get them to move. I think the handle has to be in a certain position. no through breeze in the main bedroom, with little air movement as only 1 window and can't open it more than a few inches. there are no safety bars in either bathroom. especially a problem in the 2nd bedroom as there's nothing to hang onto in the shower. also nowhere to be put your soap/shampoo the showerhead in the main bathroom is at an angle so the water goes towards the wall the smoke alarm went off due to a bit of grease on the bottom of a pan, and it was totally ear splitting, far too loud no hair dryer no clothes dryer towels in the 2nd bathroom are too small, like hand towels had to ask for cleaning sprays, a bin bag - why only 1 provided? welcome pack was some milk and packet of imported biscuits. Shame no local treats were provided as many places do. This is an organic farm? outside the barn is a large area of concrete with a small table and 2 chairs (why not four?). unwelcoming. the bench in the kitchen against the wall is uncomfortable, too narrow. we asked about using the garden at the back. the owner agreed but only at certain times. generally, there is nowhere nice outside you can relax. this is a major drawback the best thing about the property is the location. in general I think the property is overpriced. no garden, tiny 2nd bedroom, only 1 living space, we have stayed in places much more spacious for a much lower price.

As you’ll see to date, comments on the property have been complimentary so far and yours is the first which isn’t so. We’ve spoken to the owner who will certainly take some of the points you raise on board, a suitcase rack for the smaller bedroom is already on order! We have checked the description and pictures we provide for 1 Caddaford Barns and believe it describes and shows the property exceptionally well. The conversion of this barn has been creative, using the space available to the best of the owners ability especially the bedrooms, with a good sized master ensuite room and a 2nd smaller bedroom with zip linked beds providing flexibility for all who visit 1 Caddaford Barns. The windows have safety catches and can therefore open fully (we would have been more than happy to have shown you had you asked). The large sliding doors along with the French doors allow for a delightful through breeze. The smoke alarm is a standard fitted device to ensure the safety of all of our guests, we have no control of the volume of this! The property is clearly advertised with a patio and furniture with no mention of access to a lawned garden. The owner is working closely with a garden designer to create some container planting to make the outside area even more desirable with plans to also extend the seating area. The owner takes their letting of 1 Caddaford Barns very seriously and prides themselves on giving good holiday experiences – this is reflected in the feedback we have received and we have every confidence this will continue to be the case moving forward. Despite us being there in February we were very warm even without the log burner. The kitchen was well equipped, we had lots of hot water , the bed was very comfortable and we had loads of space. Kate the owner looked after us so we'll, always on hand when needed and responded quickly to any requests We d definitely recommend this place

“Beautiful barn , inside our accommodation was spotlessly kept , fresh clean linen , comfy beds, all mod cons at hand, super warm ,triple glazing as well,plenty of room in the main living area ,underfloor heating was so effective we didnt need to light the woodburner but was nice if you like a fire effect for ambience,two bedrooms onsuite was an asset, the owner who lives next door was very helpful and we would like to say thankyou for the milk and chocolate biscuits ,tea coffee and sugar on arrival, and the nice toiletries for our use.”

Being so close to all Devon offers but just off the beaten track was perfect.

“A recently converted barn, completed to a high standard.”

We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages and this is one of the best in terms of cleanliness, appliances and comfort- also off a very quiet lane with the occasional passing tractor. The heating and woodburner kept us warm and the bed was very comfortable. Lovely to have a bath and a separate walk in shower. Everything you needed to self cater was there- except oven gloves-luckily brought own. Clear relevant information is provided by Kate the owner. It would be good to have a visitors comments book so that visitors can share ideas of places to visit etc. Easy parking outside the door.

“An absolutely stunning barn which is very well equipped and warm and cosy.”

The accommodation is very spacious and fitted with high quality furnishings throughout. The bathrooms are stunning and the water is hot and plentiful. The king size bed is very comfortable with luxury cotton bedding. Kate was very friendly, helpful and knowledgable of the area, which was really helpful. 1 Caddaford Barns is,by far, the best accommodation we have stayed in for a very very long time. The property

A great base for a family holiday or an excellent option for couples, within sight of the stunning Dartmoor National Park. The beautiful No 1 Caddaford Barns is a two-bedroom barn conversion located in a rural hamlet just outside Buckfastleigh in Devon.

There are two off-road parking spaces and a communal courtyard at the front of the house, perfect for an evening drink on the patio.

Step into the bright open-concept living area, where a well-equipped kitchen awaits your culinary creations, to be enjoyed with a glass of wine at the locally crafted ash dining table.

After supper, unwind on the sumptuous sofa while watching a show on the Smart TV next to the warm glow of the woodburning stove.

Continue through to the two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and a 5 ft double (which can be 2ft 6 twin beds on request), both of which have their own en-suites.

Visit the South Devon Railway and its Museum, the Buckfast Butterfly Farm and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary, the Buckfastleigh Open Air Pool, Buckfast Abbey and its gorgeous lavender gardens.

Ben's Farm Shop, where fresh fruit and veg can be purchased is within a few minutes drive, as is the Live and Let Live in Landscove, a well-known pub where local ales can be sampled.

Hill House Nursery, where a delicious cream tea can be had is also nearby.

The well regarded Riverford Field Kitchen is within a 20 minute walk or short drive for those who enjoy local organic, seasonal produce prepared by excellent local chefs.

Located just a few miles from the property, the stunning 1,200 acre Dartington Trust estate offers beautiful grade II listed gardens, with walks and trails through the deer park, an on-site pub, café and cinema along with a varied program of informative talks, exhibitions and events.

Totnes is where you'll find the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, Totnes Castle, as well as the Bull Inn, Rumours wine bar, and the Steam Packet Inn for food.

In the other direction you’ll find Ashburton, home to the Ashburton History Museum, a quaint town square, the Ashburn Gallery, several antique shops, Creamo's Ice Cream and Emilia's Italian Restaurant.
