The property

Enjoying captivating views across the Devonshire town of Tiverton and beyond is this stunning Victorian mansion, which was once a vicarage.

The Old Vicarage has been designed to offer a base for groups of couples, friends and families to come together to celebrate a special occasion or to use a base to explore the wonder of Devon’s countryside.

Enter into the spacious hallway, store your coats and shoes before you go onto discover the social rooms, each boasting traditional furnishings and retaining many of its original period features.

In addition to a Welcome Pack for guests, there is also dog welcome pack as well, and the utility room is ideal for cleaning up muddy dogs and wellingtons!

Certain to entice any budding chefs is the contemporary kitchen, complete with a Range cooker, inviting you in to prepare some local delicacies for you and your loved ones to be enjoyed within the grand dining room.

In here, you will find a formal dining arrangement set up for 10 people, allowing the whole family to come together to tuck into a self-catered meal.

Enjoy relaxing evenings within the sitting room, where you can snuggle up in front of the open fire or sit in the large bay window and while away a few hours playing a selection of games.

For a slightly livelier evening, head into the music room and play a tune or two, or if peace is what you are seeking, make your way into the snug for a sense of tranquillity.

After a busy day enjoying the area, the house and the garden, make your way up the staircase to find five bedrooms.

Escape to either, a double bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom, a king-size bedroom with its own dining table, a double bedroom or two twin bedrooms.

The bedrooms all enjoy a refreshing ambience, as well as plenty of storage to keep your holiday belongings, in addition to superb views across the garden and the Devonshire countryside.

Continuing to impress, this property houses a wonderful garden area, children will be delighted by the outdoor games that await them, whilst the terrace area offers an alternative dining arrangement during the summer evenings.

Soak up the surrounding by taking a walk into the centre of Tiverton, which is home to a good selection of amenities, from supermarkets, independent shops, eateries and pubs.

For things to do, immerse yourself in the local history by spending time exploring the fortified Tiverton castle or browse the Museum Of Mid Devon Life.

Travel slightly further afield to River Exe, where fishing is available or there is the National Trust's Knightshayes Court, which is considered to be one of the finest surviving Gothic Revival houses built in the 19th century.

If you are feeling more adventurous, a scenic car journey will take you to the ancient city of Exeter, home to the Gothic Exeter Cathedral, Exeter Castle and Rougemont Gardens.

The cottage is situated close to Exmoor National Park and Blackdown Hills AONB where walks and pretty villages are waiting to be discovered. The north and south Devon coastlines are about an hour's drive away.

The Old Vicarage is an outstanding property for exploring the delights of Devon.

About the location

TIVERTON

Crediton 12 miles; Exeter 14 miles; Taunton 21 miles.

The largest town in Mid Devon, visit Tiverton for echoes of the past including a romantic castle, and horse-drawn barge trips on the idyllic Grand Western Canal. Occupying a strategic position on two rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, brought Tiverton wealth as a flourishing textile town, resulting in many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three medieval almshouses, and the fantastic parish church of St. Peter with its remarkable frieze of merchant vessels with billowing sails. Another famous building is Old Blundells, immortalised by former pupil R.D. Blackmore in his classic Lorna Doone. However, the town's most famous building is beautiful Tiverton Castle, a royal fortress commissioned in 1106 by Henry I. Find out more about Tiverton's rich heritage at award-winning Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, with 14 galleries of exhibits including the Tivvy Bumper GWR locomotive.
