The property

Tavistock 4 miles.

This detached, stone-built barn conversion, dating back to 1900 is situated next door to the owner's home on their traditional Dartmoor smallholding, in a rural location, within the Dartmoor National Park, a mile and a half by car from the small village of Peter Tavy, and close to the market town of Tavistock.

Beautifully appointed throughout, this property provides a wonderful base for couples looking to explore this area.

Situated all on the ground floor you enter the property into a sociable open plan living area with tiled floor and a well-equipped compact kitchen with everything you need to rustle up a delicious meal to be shared around the dining table.

The 2 seater sofa is a comfortable place to snuggle up together and enjoy watching a film or to sit quietly and enjoy the views from the lounge window over the back garden and out across the Dartmoor National Park.

One step up leads into the excellently-appointed double bedroom with a lovely en-suite shower room.

On sunny days enjoy dining alfresco on the patio outside or wander down to the fence at the end of the garden to soak up those glorious 180 degree countryside views, with the farm itself boasting panoramic 360 degree views of the surrounding moor.

Also as there’s almost zero light pollution, on a clear night you can look up and admire the stars in the sky.

As this property is in an isolation location on the side of a moor, there are wonderful walks from the door that are perfect for hikers and dog lovers, plus with riding stables less than three miles away, this cottage provides access to stunning horse trekking across the moors.

You may also wish to walk to a Bronze Age settlement, just ten minutes’ away and there are standing stones within reach.

A short drive, up the side of a moor, will take you into the nearby award-winning market town of Tavistock with its range of shops, restaurants and pubs and with the slopes of Dartmoor on the edge of this town, walkers are well catered for.

There are several National Trust properties in the area with outstanding gardens to explore or perhaps hop in the car and spend a day at one of the many sandy beaches within an hour’s drive.

This wonderful barn conversion is ideal for a tranquil, romantic retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
