    “We had a wonderful stay at Hornshaye Farmhouse.”

    The accommodation was very spacious, clean and well equipped. There was plenty of room in the kitchen and lounge for 11 of us. Children were well catered for in the kitchen, in the house and outside. The garden was absolutely lovely with masses of space for children and dogs to play. The farmer and his family were extremely welcoming and friendly and it was so lovely to be able to wonder unhindered around the farm and surrounding fields. The children really enjoyed watching the milking and ...

The property

On the edge of Woodbridge hamlet, ¾ mile from Farway, is Hornshayne Farmhouse, a large, beautiful and imposing thatched farmhouse adjoining the owners’ cottage in the midst of this busy, working, 335 acre dairy/arable farm (you're welcome to help feed calves).

There’s been a house here since Saxon times; ‘gentrified’ in the 1700s, this farmhouse retains many original and fascinating features (still a salting cupboard and ceiling chamber in the kitchen).

Outside, plenty of open space (river for children's fun and tiddler fishing, ponds, walks over miles of unspoiled countryside with outstanding views, quiet roads to run) surrounding the pretty garden (picnic table, gas barbecue, giant draughts, unfenced shallow stream; great play castle, Wendy house and sandpit, shared with owners) and games barn (quarter-sized billiard table, table tennis, karaoke machine, TV, fridge, loo).

Inside, living room (‘living flame’ fire, TV/DVD) and enormous hub-of-house kitchen/dining room (huge fireplace, oil-fired Rayburn, electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, American-style fridge-freezer), both with original slate flag floor.
