“The views were stunning,all manor of walks on your doorstep.”

The property was very well equiped and clean as well as being well maintained.Shops,chemist etc just a walk away.A wide variety of cafes and restaurants for all tastes. thoroughly recommend this for walkers and families alike.Owner is just an email away if a problem occurs.

“This apartment is stunning.”

Incredibly well located - one minute walk to shops, eating places and pubs and the railway down to Lynmouth. Straight out onto the coastal path and loads of great walks. The apartment has absolutely everything you could possibly need and all of high quality. We cannot recommend Blue Bay highly enough. Fantastic.

Convenient for the cliff railway (or very steep footpath) down to Lynmouth. The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped - and the owner sent us some useful information prior to arrival. He was also quick to respond to a small query about the heating. Would recommend.

“We enjoyed our holiday very much.”

We have stayed in penthouse upstairs before. The only little thing was the lack of window view in the downstairs bedroom which I know you can't do anything about. The other thing was the heating it was rather chilly around 5.00 and you couldn't put heating on.although it said just ask to turn it on. When on holiday you don't want to be calling all the time. But neither of the above spoiled our holiday we had a good time there. And would definitely recommend going therex

We were comfortable and we thought the owner had provided everything we would need for a week in a holiday let. We also liked that the ornaments and pictures made Blue Bay homely and the lighting was spot on which so often isn't the case in holiday lets. Definitely we would stay again at Lynton Cottage.

Fantastic array of crockery, cutlery and cookware, nothing was overlooked. Comfortable beds, great showers. Contacted the owner to ask for the downstairs heating to be adjusted, this was done straight away. We have stayed in Lynton many times and this was the best accommodation we have used.

“The location of the property in Lynton is excellent.”

We always had a parking spot in the shared car park despite there being around 10 other holiday apartments in the building. The kitchen was also very well equiped. The view out of the 2 front facing windows (one in the lounge, one in bedroom 1) were good but I would say because of the orientation of the windows in the rooms, you could only see the view if you were sat in the right place. The bedroom window was a small bay window side on to the sea view, and in the corner of a very large room. The rest of the windows in the property faced the back cliff/vegatation/back of other apartments in the buildling, so not much natural light coming in through them. Bedroom 1 could have done with a chest of drawers as we had to live out of suitcases all week. We had two quite significant issues with the property overall, which has impacted our holiday, which is a shame. Firstly, the downstairs room. It is described as 'quirky' in the listing but it is in fact somewhat of a cellar type room with an incredible damp and fusty smell, which we think it unsuitable for sleeping in or spending any time in at all. You enter the main building through a shared hallway through a (very) old door stepping on old gravestones as flagstones. The cellar/basement room is off this and has door leading to this area. This is just one of 6 doors in this basement room. One is a back door to the cliff area/back of house, one to the upstairs apartment, one to the bathroom, one is a locked large cupboard, and one is behind the wardrobe. There are 4 windows but all look out on to internal walls or outside walls. It's dark, claustrophic, smelly and the bedding felt damp. My daughter ended up sleeping on the floor in our room upstairs the whole week. The second issue was the bed and bedding in the upstairs room. I realise that comfort is subjective, but we found the bed to be vey uncomfortable, not helped by poor quality duvet and pillows. Synthetic and well past their plumpness, both of my pillows were completely flat. When we took the sheets off at the end of the week as we were leaving, the undersheet had stains, hairs and bits of dirt. It was just not up to the usual standard of Sykes cottages that we have come to appreciate. Such a shame as for the money paid we had high hopes. We'll be returning to Lynton but not Blue Bay.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you acknowledged the views which are fantastic from the main bedroom and lounge. Unfortunately we cannot change the orientation of the windows. Both bedrooms have a wardrobe and drawers beneath as can be seen in the photos so I’m not sure why you chose to live out of your suitcase . As for issues with the cleanliness of the apartment, we are disappointed that you made no effort to raise any of these concerns with the housekeeper at the time. It is also interesting that every other guest providing feedback comments on the cleanliness of the apartment. We invest considerable money to refresh the apartment between each guest and there are clear instructions and contacts available in case you are in any way dissatisfied. Please use these contacts as we want you to be happy with your Holiday Home. Many people like the quirkiness and history of staying in an old building , and perhaps you are more suited to a more modern style of accommodation. Many people before your stay and after have enjoyed their time in Blue Bay Property Owner

Once inside the apartment is superb, clean and well maintained, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped. The views from the apartment are superb but the garden areas are in need of some tlc.

Lynton and Lynmouth are great places to visit with lots to see and do, food is excellent in the area and there is some fantastic walking to be done. Easy to recommend both the property and the area, looking forwards to returning.

“A comfortable and well presented apartment in a beautiful and quiet location, conveniently situated in the centre of Lynton and with excellent walks right from the doorstep.”

Access and car parking could be challenging, not helped by the exit from the property being blocked by a fallen tree, and the communal garden was not as accessible as we had imagined from the description, but the views were stunning. There was a slightly damp smell in the ground floor bedroom, due to the lack of natural ventilation.

In fact, everything one may have required and more! Clearly a great deal of thought and consideration have been applied when designing and furnishing this property. The location was amazing - central to the sections of the south west coastal path that we wished to walk during this stay with great restaurants and facilities close by. I would certainly return! The proprietor was exceptionally helpful in returning items that I had left at the property after my stay. He could not have been any more amenable or helpful. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for this.

“We had a very nice stay, the property was spacious, but a bit confusing when reading initially (but there again the property IS a bit confusing) perhaps the description could be better, for example a floor plan.”

Lynton was new to us and we had not realised just how hilly is would be straight from the door, but did make the views magnificent. The lower/family room worked for my mother to avoid some of the stairs, but had not really got any window view at all. We did have a concern over the bed linen, but I only mention to indicate the housekeeper resolved immediately and were very friendly and helpful.

“Great location, I didn't know anything about Lynton until I read about the scenic Glen Lyn Gorge in the weekly Waitrose newspaper.”

I was very impressed with Lynton, such a picturesque village, and the apartment is located within a few minutes walk from some lovely pub and restaurants. The apartment in itself is beautiful, very stylish, clean, with all the amenities (if you prefer to cook) and it is perfect for couples or families. There is a spectacular view of the sea from the lounge and 1st floor bedroom window! and it is such a treat to look at the sea first thing in the morning and late at night! We stayed with our baby and our dog, and everything was catered for! If you do have a dog, there are some lovely walks right outside the apartment (there is a poop bin outside the Town Hall, just a few mins walk away) and we were pleasantly surprised at how many shops, pub and restaurants welcomed dogs! The communication with the owner was great, he sent us an email with information about the local area, restaurants, etc, and even allowed us an earlier check in as there were no guests staying the night before. Checking-in and checking-out was very straight forward! I'd highly recommend taking either the funicular (for the beautiful views) or walking to Lynmouth harbour, which is very pretty, and really recommend the fish & chips at Lynmouth Harbour (instead of the one in Lynton). Other restaurants recommended by the owner that we loved were Vanilla Pod (Middle Eastern food), The Oak Room (Spanish food) and Nartnapa Thai Kitchen. A brilliant pub is the The Crown Pub! The staff at the pub and restaurants were so lovely! And Lynton is a great base to explore North Devon: driving along the coast to the beautiful village of Porlock or Woolacombe, one of North Devon's most beautiful beaches! I would definitely like to come back with my parents-in-law!

Blue Bay is a delightful two-storey apartment, sitting on the coast of Exmoor in the charming town of Lynton.

Enter into the building through the doorway next to the garage and either take the staircase up to the apartment on the 1st floor or use the lift.
