“Kingbarth Cottage is beautifully situated and well equipped.”

All 4 of us loved the setting (despite having difficulty negotiating the Cornish lanes!). The four of us have holidayed together and shared accommodation at home and abroad over many years and this ranks with the very best. Nearby Lerryn is picturesque and delightful. The small shop provides essentials and the pub provides excellent food too. Lostwithiel and The Lost Gardens are worth exploring despite being expensive. Thank you for providing such comfortable and restful accommodation. Michael

The property

½ mile from Lerryn, a wonderfully private, detached cottage with 19th century origins in an area of great beauty.

A big rambling garden (table/chairs, barbecue) encloses it, full of flowering shrubs and birdsong: brilliant freedom for older children to explore, yet enclosed at the front for younger ones.

Undulating meadows all around.

Inside, stylish yet family-friendly with fresh, simple, uncluttered decor.

Slate floors (thick rugs) downstairs.

Big double-aspect living room with TV/DVD/Blu-ray, woodburner and glazed door to garden.

Children’s snug with box of games/toys.

Spacious kitchen (dishwasher, fridge-freezer, electric range-style oven/induction hob) with meadow views.

Dining room with door to side porch and step down to back lobby (washing machine, microwave, sink) and little shower-room (suite).

Upstairs, three bedrooms - two kingsize (5' beds), one with limited clothes-hanging space, and a twin with beautiful meadow views.

Bathroom (suite plus hand-shower and separate shower).

The cottage is approached via 50 yards of hardcore driveway/cattle grid to gravelled parking area and carport.

A restorative, romantic bolt hole or family get-away, just ½ mile quiet lane walk from a good pub (remember torch) and village store. Lerryn: exceptionally pretty village (pub, PO/shop, village green, slipway) spreading along both banks of the Lerryn Creek (good canoeing/kayaking) which ebbs and flows into the River Fowey through dense woodland, creating an ever-changing scene.

Canoe trips, 9 miles.

Lostwithiel (shops, pub, restaurants, castle, railway station), 4 miles.

Fowey, 4 miles via ferry.

About the location

LERRYN

Lostwithiel 3 miles; Bodmin 10 miles.

For those seeking peace, tranquillity and the unspoilt splendour of Cornwall’s ‘softer’ southern coast there can be few finer spots than Lerryn. Sitting at the very point where the River Lerryn joins the highest tidal reach of a creek leading up from the Fowey estuary, the village has a timeless, natural beauty no matter the season. Footpaths meander through the woods and along the river bank while out on the water the small boats owned by local residents provide another means of travelling down stream to Fowey (3.5miles) for shopping or just something to do in wonderful surroundings. The village boasts an award winning pub/restaurant and has a small shop and post office. Nearby Lostwithiel is renowned also for its good restaurants and antique shops. The stunning Eden Project (8 miles), the Shipwreck Harbour at Charlestown, the lovely fishing village and harbour of Mevagissey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the stately home and gardens at Lanhydrock (NT) can all be reached in under half an hour while Padstow and the rolling surf of the north coast are just over 20 miles away.

Note: Induction hob.
