“We had the most incredible week at May Blossom Barn.”

Louise and Neil have done an excellent job in styling and maintaining the property, with a lot of thought and soul put into making it feel like home. Louise was our main point of contact and she was so friendly and welcoming of any communication if needed during our stay. We were also greeted with a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, along with tea bags and biscuits on our arrival - a very kind gesture. The property is perfectly situated in a small cluster of homes close to the charming village of Lustleigh (excellent roast at the Cleave Inn!). There is easy access to Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracey, and Exeter and Okehampton are within easy reach for larger choice of stores. Being adjacent to the road made travel by car much easier comparative to other properties on narrow roads. However, it is a quiet stretch with only light traffic at peak commuting hours, and being situated on a bend means traffic is not passing at high speeds. We had no issues with traffic noise and slept with windows open with no issues. Pulling up to the property, we were delighted to see the private front garden and double drive (with ev charger if needed. The property feels completely private, but having other properties on the close helps it feel less isolated. We really enjoyed watching the house sparrows flying around the landscaped garden, and the house martins sweeping past the bedroom windows each morning as they nest in the eaves of the neighbouring property. Inside, it truly lives up to the images online. It is thoughtfully decorated with clean, modern interiors yet maintains a traditional feel. The kitchen-diner is high quality and stocked with all the utensils and kitchenware you need. The Rayburn oven couldn’t be easier to use (instructions are provided) and adds to the rustic charm - a countertop oven/grill/microwave is provided as well if required. The dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are all higher spec and easy to use. The spacious lounge has two very comfy sofas, sky TV, and a fireplace for cooler evenings (there is also controllable central heating and underfloor heating throughout). We were able to make use of this on a few occasions during the colder part of our stay, and all the equipment for lighting the fire is provided making it easy to use. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds exceptionally comfortable, with high quality bedding. Plenty of storage in each room, and the en-suite an added bonus. The rooms are located on opposite sides of the wide hall allowing for privacy. The bedrooms have underfloor heating, but it is very well insulated for an older building! The bathrooms were both spotless with good water pressure and plenty of hot water, and openable skylights. There is an easy to use shower in the en-suite and a deep bath in the main bathroom - perfect for an evening soak after exploring Dartmoor. Fresh high quality towels are provided. We could not fault this place at all, and will certainly be looking to return. We have also recommended it to others and will do so to anyone looking for a relaxing luxury escape in Dartmoor.
