    “Lovely property in perfect location.”

    Astrid was very friendly and welcoming and showed us around the very warm and comfortable Hayloft. We had a wonderful week with walks from the doorstep and further afield. A very relaxing week and we wouldn't hesitate to return!

The property

400 yards from the pub in Manaton, in the peaceful hamlet of Water, a beautiful cottage converted from a hayloft above granite stables (horses/sheep occasionally) beyond the owners' ancient farmhouse.

Beyond the courtyard is your own enclosed private garden with picnic bench.

You are welcome to wander the 9 acres of gardens, pond (unfenced) and fields (sheep, horses, chickens).

A picturesque ½ mile walk leads through woodland to Lustleigh Cleave and the River Bovey. From parking area, 60 yards of gravel path and 3 steps down to courtyard.

Big tiled hall (space for walking gear).

Stairs (top stairgate) up to wonderful open-plan living/dining/kitchen with spectacular views from big roof windows across fields to Black Hill, hand-built kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, larder fridge, electric cooker) with large table/benches/stools at one end and, at the other, woodburner, TV/DVD/Blu-ray and leather sofas.

Two steps up to hallway and two double bedrooms (limited clothes-hanging space), one with 5' bed and each with smart en suite shower-room (suite).

Beyond the living area, another double bedroom with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower).

Exterior utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, small freezer).

Stabling available, by arrangement.

A beautiful, relaxed place to stay at any time of year with woodland and moorland walks from the door. Manaton: pretty little village (pub with small shop, tennis court, playground, church) in a beautiful part of Dartmoor, and close to spectacular rock tors (Hound Tor, Bowerman's Nose) and lovely tree-filled valleys (Lustleigh Cleave).

Golf driving range, 5 miles.

Nearest shop, 5 miles.
