The accommodation was spotlessly clean, incredibly spacious, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into ensuring guests have everything they could possibly need. A special mention must go to the hosts, John and Sarah, who were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and informative from start to finish. They made us feel very welcome and were always happy to offer local recommendations and answer any questions, helping us make the most of our visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Lily’s Pad to anyone looking for comfortable, well-equipped accommodation with outstanding hosts. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

“Our second stay at Lily’s Pad, once again John and Sarah were very welcoming, property wonderfully clean and everything is catered for.”

Lovely and quiet, all you hear are the birds, we also enjoyed watching the baby lambs in a nearby field. We had amazing weather and visited Tavistock, Exeter, Bideford, Rosemore Gardens and popped down to Cornwall one day and visited Mevagissey, beautiful harbour and quaint little shops. Cream teas were served mid week along with some extra treats when John and Sarah discovered it was my Birthday. A wonderful week and we have booked again for next year. Many thanks for a great stay x

“We had such a lovely stay at Lily's pad, thank you so much.”

It was clean, tidy, had everything we needed and the log burner was a lovely addition for the chilly evenings. We (and the dog) were made very welcome and really appreciated the information about different places to visit that were dog friendly. We really only had one slight issue which was that the bathroom was really cold and it took us till our second day to realise where the switch for the towel rail was. However even with it on, it was quite cold in there as it didn't pump out much heat. Only a slight issue really and at a warmer time of year, this wouldn't be a problem. All in all though, we had a lovely stay and would recommend it to others.

Sorry you didn’t find the Wi-Fi good….when running multiple devices such as your laptops, Alexa, Netflix and Amazon Prime it will be a little slower in rural areas compared to big cities. “This was our 3rd visit to John & Sarah's.”

We had originally stayed in Windy Willows absolutely fabulous, but on our past 2 visits opted for Lily;s Pad. Both establishment are on equal par and as said before every comfort and need tailored for. We choose Lilys Pad because it absolutely suits us. It is very very clean and comfortable, with everything anyone could need for a restful and relaxing stay. John and Sarah are consummate hosts, who anticipate and provide everything one could possibly need, plus great sense of information provided with great humour. We look forward to another visit next year.

“Found the description slightly misleading, as we expected to be looking out onto the garden/fields rather than a row of timber buildings.”

However, the cleanliness of the chalet was excellent and well equipped, and the owner, John, was very helpful. So yes, we would go back again.

“Lily’s pad is the perfect home from home, John and Sara were there to welcome us John showed us how every thing worked I have to have medical oxygen and this was installed with no problems.”

“Lily's Pad was areal home from home.”

Very comfortable, very clean. Host's John and Sarah were very welcoming and very friendly. We were left scones, jam and cream also a bottle of wine and milk. Lovely touch. Cottage was very central for visiting different places and all the local pubs served great food, especially The Taw River Inn , The Fountain and The Crossways Inn for Sunday carvery. Would definitely recommend this property and would book again if wanting to stay in the area.

A warm welcome awaited us from John, lovely welcome pack and recommendations of local pubs and restaurants, we visited Exeter, Barnstaple, Plymouth, Brixham and even dropped down into Cornwall one day and went to Mevagissey. “Fabulous cottage.”

So much space in all of the rooms, unlike most cottages, this really does accommodate 4 without being cramped up. The big bonus was a secure dog paddock. Sitting outside watching the sun set adds to the charm. Would thoroughly recommend

“We had a very enjoyable stay at Lilys Pad, spotlessly clean and comfortable, the large garden and outdoor seating was a real bonus and the owners welcomed us on arrival and helped us with local knowledge etc.”

Oakhampton is an ideal base for access for walks we had planned on Dartmoor, cycling on the Granite Way and a day at Exeter Quay by train. It’s very possible that we will return next year.

“Great hosts, received a very warm welcome.”

Met us when we arrived & showed us around. Milk, wine & a cake was very much appreciated. Nice peaceful setting within easy reach to either coastlines. Lots of places to visit nearby. Lots of nice walks within easy reach by car although not by foot from the property as the road it is on is quite busy & wouldn’t be able to walk along it but on the whole a good base to stay.

John and Sarah are extremely helpful and welcoming hosts, and go the extra mile to look after their guests. Due to unforeseen circumstances we arrived very late in the evening, and John kindly took time to show us round and made sure we had everything we needed. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It was lovely to come back from walking on the moor to sit and enjoy the warmth from the log burner before sleeping in the very comfortable bed. Lilys Pad is the perfect base for a holiday in Devon, and we hope to return soon.

The owners, John and Sarah completely lived up to all the reviews and were genuinely welcoming and helpful. John provided recommendations on places to visit and eat, all of which were lovely. The accommodation was beautiful, extremely clean and tidy with everything you need, a home from home. Our four legged friend was as welcome as we were, with no rules of what he could or couldn’t do. He loved the enclosed field where he could run freely and was stretch his legs. I honestly could not recommend Lily’s Pas enough, thank you John and Sarah.

“Lily’s Pad is a beautiful holiday home set in a stunning location.”

Lily’s Pad felt like home from the moment we arrived and had absolutely everything we needed for a lovely relaxing holiday. The owners were lovely, warm, friendly and very welcoming. They made contact prior to our arrival to pin drop the exact location to help us find the holiday home and also offered to put up a football net for our 10 year old son which he absolutely loved. The owners left some treats to enjoy on arrival and brought us a delicious mid-week treat too. The owners were happy to make suggestions and recommendations for activities in the area and further away as well as places of interest, places to buy provisions and where to eat and drink. There is a beautiful enclosed garden with picnic table to sit at and enjoy the views. We really didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to rebook and visit again next year. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful holiday home with us. It was a truly wonderful place to stay with amazing owners.

“A blissful week's Stay at Lovely Lily's Pads Dog Friendly lodge in Okehampton Devon Our week-long stay at Lovely Lily's Pads was an absolute delight!”

From the moment we arrived, John and Sarah made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warm hospitality set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. The accommodation itself was immaculate and well-appointed. The decor was charming, blending modern conveniences with a cozy, rustic feel. It was clear that a lot of thought had been put into making the space comfortable and inviting. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring we had restful nights throughout our stay. One of the standout features of Lovely Lily's Pads is its dog-friendly policy. We brought our furry baby harry along, and he had just as much fun as we did. The property has plenty of space for dogs to run around and explore, with a huge inclose field for him to run freely which was a lovely surprise and making it a hassle-free experience for pet owners. Okehampton itself is a charming town with plenty to offer. We explored the local shops, the castle and Simmons park, was also a nice treat one evening when we ordered fish and chips which was recommended by John. The location of Lovely Lily's Pads was ideal for day trips to nearby attractions, including Dartmoor National Park, which was breathtaking an many more others. John and Sarah were always on hand to offer recommendations and ensure we had everything we needed. Their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests made a huge difference. In summary, our stay at Lovely Lily's Pads in Okehampton was fantastic. The dog-friendly environment, excellent accommodation, and the hosts' hospitality made it a memorable experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and welcoming retreat, in the peaceful countryside of Devon especially those traveling with pets. “Just returned from a fabulous break at Lilys Pad - 2 adults, 2 teenagers & a labrador - and wish we could go straight back!”

John and Sarah are lovely, welcoming hosts who are always on hand, and their accommodation is wonderful. Perfectly clean, cosy and charming, with everything you need. The rooms are well furnished and warm, with comfortable sofas and beds. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of fridge/freezer space and storage for all your shopping. The decking is ideal for enjoying the night sky, and the garden offers great views of the surrounding countryside as well as plenty of space to exercise the family dog. Having stayed in several places throughout Devon and Cornwall over the last few years, Lilys Pad is one of, if not the best, so far and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

“We stayed at Lily's Pad before and after surgery at Woods Medi-Spa.”

It was perfect for us and good location - close enough to both Okehampton and the clinic, but in a really nice and quiet country spot. The cottage had all the facilities we needed and was much bigger and better than the photos suggest. Everything was spotless when we arrived, and had everything we needed for a home-based stay. John and Sarah were great hosts, and very helpful. Also responded quickly to any questions we had.

The property

Lilys Pad is a charming single-storey detached Devon cottage is situated in two acres of the owners' grounds, a short distance from the edge-of-Dartmoor town of Okehampton.

This property is a wonderfully neat and smart base, full of light and just right for families or friends to enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery or travel around Devon from this central base.

The sitting room is bright and welcoming with its woodburning stove for cooler days, a Smart TV and double-glazed doors to throw open to the decking on sunny days.

The kitchen with its dining area has fun, cheerful splashes of contemporary colour, ideal for cooking up a storm.

Both the bedrooms come with an en-suite and TVs (Smart TV in the double) and are just right for cosying up after walking Dartmoor's hills and valleys.

Outside, your sunny decking with furniture sweeps around the cottage to a shared lawn with lots of space for playing games or simply enjoying the moorland views.

Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. To the north of Okehampton are some beautiful rolling Devon hills where small farming villages nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of gently flowing rivers. The fabulous Roadford Reservoir offers a multitude of watersport activities and fishing opportunities. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory: The Dartmoor Line now operates a service between Okehampton and Exeter every hour, 7 days a week. The town also has access to fabulous walks and Simmons Park where you’ll find a children’s adventure playground. This area of Devon has plenty of farm shops and country inns serving good food where visitors can spend time relaxing and unwinding amongst unspoilt countryside.
