The property

Converted from the hotel formerly known as ‘The Queens Hotel’, this second-floor apartment can be found at the heart of the action of Newton Abbot in Devon.

Built in the 1850s, the hotel is thought to be one of the oldest in South Devon, adding additional charm to the now contemporary-styled dwelling.

Take the lift up onto the second floor and step inside the apartment to find a welcoming spot to spend your holiday; begin in the open-plan living space, where you will be greeted by all of the appliances and home comforts that you could need for a relaxing break.

The kitchen area oozes style in its seaside hues of blues and greens, encompassed by a range of useful appliances including a washer/dryer, a dishwasher and a large fridge/freezer, making your holiday a true breeze.

Sat within the kitchen is a extendable dining table, where you can spend your evenings together with a home-cooked treat, prepared with produce from the nearby local shops and markets on your doorstep.

Spend some time unwinding in the evening in the lounge area, where you can relax on two plush sofas settled around the 50" Smart television or sharing in family entertainment of board games or cards, perfect for a relaxing evening indoors when you’re not exploring the delights of the local area.

There are two charming bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and one with its own en-suite and the other having a shared bathroom adjacent to the room; each of these elegant rooms holds ample storage space and a soft spot to rest your head at the end of an action-packed day.

The location of the property is perfect for a wide range of attractions, positioned next to Courtenay Park, where you can enjoy a picnic with friends on a warm day, as well as making a great space for children to play.

The park also has a public bowling green, a bandstand hosting various concerts and a children's play area.

Close by is the Newton Abbot racecourse which holds frequent events for all of the family to enjoy at various times of the year, or if you would like something more relaxed then spend the day at Decoy Country Park where you can find lovely walks around the lake and watersports such as paddle boarding and canoeing.

Swimming and sports activities can be enjoyed at the local leisure centre.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside including Dartmoor National Park, Newton Abbot is a thriving historic market town, which offers cafés and restaurants, shops, supermarkets, the racecourse, post office, pubs and a cider bar.

The town centre is a three minute level walk from the property.

Venture further afield to the coastal towns of Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren for a day of sandcastle building, or head to the popular tourist hot-spot of Torquay to discover attractions such as the renowned Paignton Zoo and Living Coast Aquarium, the museum, Dinosaur World and much more. Offering links to various locations across Devon and beyond, Apartment 18 is perfect for your family getaway at any time of the year.

The property is conveniently close to the mainline Railway station offering connections to the local towns as well as the Penzance to Paddington Railway Line.

About the location

NEWTON ABBOT

Teignmouth 5 miles; Shaldon 5 miles; Torquay 10 miles; Exeter 18 miles; Plymouth 31 miles

Newton Abbot is situated in the heart of The English Riviera, with its mild climate and thriving palm trees. The ancient market town now offers plenty of modern shops, both local and well-known high street chains and six leading brand supermarkets. There's also a racecourse where National Hunt racing takes place from spring until autumn, with craft fayres during the winter. Newton Abbot has a unique pub, the tap house and bottle shop, located in the building of what was a traditional working malthouse offering arguably the finest bottled beers in Devon. The seaside towns of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are nearby and are fantastic destinations for families. Spend a day on the beach building sand castles and walk the impressive Victorian Pier at Teignmouth. The National Trust houses of Bradley Manor, Coleton Fishacre and Compton Castle and many others are well worth a visit, whilst the highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the stunning beaches around Torquay and the many hidden coves such as Meadfoot, Oddicombe and further afield the pretty Ness Cove. And of course, the South West Coast Path provides stunning seascapes across the bay, with a popular stretch from Torquay Harbour to Daddyhole Plain, passing through Beacon Cove where Agatha Christie used to swim as a girl. Newton Abbot provides a fabulous base for an English seaside holiday all year round.
