“Wow what an absolute Gem of a place we came as a group of 7 over 3 generations and this suited everyone of us!”

We hadn’t travelled far (30 minutes) due to grandparents not being able to drive far but it definitely felt like a million miles away. Lots of beautiful places to visit on Dartmoor Widcombe in the moor, Hay Tor, Buckfast Abby just a few to name! The lodge was absolutely stunning and plenty of space the kitchen and open plan living/dining area was great everyone enjoyed cooking together and we even did some baking the kitchen is well equipped with everything you possibly needed our kids enjoyed ...

We hadn’t travelled far (30 minutes) due to grandparents not being able to drive far but it definitely felt like a million miles away. Lots of beautiful places to visit on Dartmoor Widcombe in the moor, Hay Tor, Buckfast Abby just a few to name! The lodge was absolutely stunning and plenty of space the kitchen and open plan living/dining area was great everyone enjoyed cooking together and we even did some baking the kitchen is well equipped with everything you possibly needed our kids enjoyed the snug lounge as well they was plenty of cards board games to choose from. the log burner was ample amount of heating (we turned the radiators down) Our 2 dogs loved the outside garden all fenced in and plenty of room for them to have a mooch around. The hot tub was superb and the fairy lights around the fence was beautiful we sat out quite late a few nights just star gazing and listening to the owl. Jo and Max made us all feel very welcome right from the start with a wonderful hamper and messaged me after the first night to see how we were and if anything was needed and very kindly kept our logs stocked up! We all would definitely recommend this wonderful place to stay we all fell in love with it and it ticked every box plus more!!!! We are actually looking at dates for next year Thanks again Jo & Max in your hospitality from all of us!

BOVEY TRACEY

Newton Abbott 6.5 miles; Teigmouth 10 miles; Exeter 15 miles

Nestled in the valley of the River Bovey is this stunning little town known as "The Gateway to the Moor". Bovey Tracey got its name from the meandering river that flows through it, with 'Tracey' representing the family that were the lords of the manor after the Norman Conquest. It has a great history with heavy involvement in the English Civil War which resulted in the name of the town's pub "The Cromwell Arms" which serves real ale and good food. The history of the town can be discovered in the Heritage Centre, with the Dartmoor National Park Authority also nearby. Bovey Tracey offers a selection of shops and cafés along with the stunning Mill Marsh Park and the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery which offers guided tours. The town comes just outside of the Dartmoor National Park which provides seemingly endless walking and cycling paths along with incredible scenery.
