“We had such a warm welcome on arrival plus a very welcome bundle of tea , coffee , biscuits & milk not forgetting some very good wine .”

The cottage was gleamingly clean with everything we needed . The wood burner was delightful with plenty of logs !! Lane End Cottage is by far the best quality property we have stayed in and the owners play a big part in making it so special , many thanks .

“This is a lovely property.”

I have never stayed anywhere so quiet. The hosts, Angela & Steve provided everything we needed for our stay. It was a great base for us to explore the area. We visited Lyme Regis, West Bay, Bridport, Durdle Door, Seaton and others. I would book again in a heartbeat.

“Absolutely perfect.”

10/10 Our holiday began with a warm welcome from Steve and Angela. Absolutely everything conceivable was provided for our stay including a bottle of wine on our arrival. The warm and cosy cottage is set in quiet woodland off the beaten track but is also within easy location of the sea and beaches of Seaton, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth are between 11 to 16 miles away. We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet and peaceful location spending time chilling out watching birds from the conservatory and we most definitely plan to return next year.

It's a real treat to see so many beautiful birds and watching them feed and watching the different assortment that come to the feeders unfortunately our stay was cut short because one was taken ill so we didn't get to visit the surrounding places or seaside towns but the garden was so beautiful it made up for it

“Lovely cottage and garden, peaceful, and plenty of space.”

Very good bathroom and shower facility. Very clean. Only problem was a few pot holes in road, as our car unfortunately has a low exhaust, so had to be careful. Otherwise, excellent, lovely helpful hosts, and much appreciated the bottle of wine. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would return.

“Angela and Steve are excellent hosts, we were greeted by them upon our arrival and shown around the Cottage.”

We were provided with a Cream Tea which was delicious. The Cottage was very comfortable and in a beautiful setting with an extensive gardens. At the beginning and end of the day we relaxed watching the abundant wildlife especially the birds visiting the feeding stations. The location enabled us to visit sites in Devon, Dorset and Somerset. We would highly recommended this property.

“The moment we arrived it was total comforting, a restful and peaceful property.”

It’s what we both described as heaven. The owners Angela and Steve are so nice and friendly. The property is warm and all amenities within are ready to start you holiday even down to coffee and biscuits ( and tea ) the garden is full of wonderful shrubs and trees and lots of birds even 3 very friendly chickens (they love pecking your shoes , strange But very cute) would we return again ? 1 million % yes ! . We don’t generally like having the owners on the doorstep and it didn’t mention this was the case until after we booked and got all the extra details, so were a little apprehensive as to how involved they would be. If it had said initially we wouldn’t have gone for it. They kept our privacy and we’re great hosts. We only saw them at the beginning, middle and end of our two week stay. A marvellous cottage and a good location to explore the South, East and West of Devon. While having Dorset and Somerset nearby too. We had a lovely stay.

It in a beautiful location, near the village of Stockland. It is well equipped with all you need for your stay. Our hosts are on hand if you need them. There are plenty of place to visit and some walks right from the doorstep. The Kings Arms is only a half hour walk.

“We enjoyed an absolutely super week at Lane End Cottage.”

Everything you could possibly need or think of was provided. The secluded garden was a sun trap and the comfy reclining chairs in the conservatory were put to good use! No tv on all week - we just watched the birds, read or snoozed. A perfect relaxing break in stunning weather. Had a very good meal In the local pub too. Angela and Steve were both so helpful but not in your face. Highly recommended.

There is a lovely conservatory, warm, with view's of the garden and all its feathered friends that visit, tits, chaffinch, magpies, black caps, nuthatch, woodpeckers, pheasant and the home kept chicken's.

“Best appointed Cottage we've stayed in - a real home from home.”

warm and snug with everything we needed. Pleasantly surprised at the size of the property. Only thing we would have liked was a bigger bed but we're used to a king size at home! The welcome bottle of wine and tea, coffee and a pint of milk were anice touches. We enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and chickens in the garden. would definitely recommend a stay here

“Lane End Cottage was one of the most beautiful and idyllic properties we have ever stayed in.”

The house is immaculately clean and beautifully decorated throughout with a huge kitchen, comfortable sitting room and snug for reading, a dining area with gorgeous grandfather clock and conservatory with comfy recliners. Upstairs, the bedroom was so comfortable, we had wonderful night’s sleeps. The outside garden is a birdwatcher’s paradise and we spent every morning watching the variety of great and blue tits, black caps and nuthatches swooping in to get their breakfast. However, our very favourite thing was to have breakfast outside where we were joined by the three friendly resident chickens Thelma, Hoppy and Bubbles. In the evening, you can see the bats swooping overhead and hear the owls. Our wonderful hosts Angela and Steve were so kind and friendly to us throughout our stay, making us feel right at home. This property is a haven for wildlife lovers and we would love to stay here again. We would highly recommend this property, a haven of peace and tranquillity…and chickens!

Bird watching each day nearly stopped us going out! The cottage is fully equipped with everything you would need. “Lane end cottage has got to be one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in.”

The cottage itself was fairly big, it had a small library, conservatory overlooking the big garden which was full of birds, squirrels, pheasants etc. The kitchen was a good size with everything you would need and a big walk in fireplace with log burner which we lit every evening so was really warm and cosy. Angela and Steve were very welcoming and very friendly, all in all a lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet

I received a very warm welcome - along with a goody tray of refreshments and wine! They visited daily to ensure everything was OK and that I had plenty of wood for the log burner - they even brought freshly laid eggs for me. Their visits were reassuring (particularly as I was on holiday alone and got was snowed in) - they were certainly not intrusive. The cottage itself was exceptionally clean and cosy - even better than it looked in the photographs. The setting was very beautiful and serene, with pheasants and a plethora of small birds in the garden. My only criticisms are that the upstairs shower was not very powerful and had my husband been able to join me for the weekend we may have found the bed a little small - mind you, we are both fatties! The booking process and communication was simple. I would definitely recommend Lane End Cottage at any time of year and I hope to return soon.

Dalwood is a small rural village resting in East Devon, among the idyllic Blackdown Hills AONB. Its facilities include a traditional pub serving food as well as a general store. Close by are some of Devon's most popular attractions. The market town of Axminster, lined with fine buildings, offers much to the visitor including an excellent range of amenities and a fascinating museum. To the western side of the Blackdown Hills you will find another market town, Honiton also holds much charm along with a museum and an art gallery. After your dose of undulating countryside, walking and cycling, you may wish to head to the coast, nearby there is a choice of wonderful seaside spots including Seaton, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth.
