“We loved this property it was comfortable & clean, had everything you could need plus lovely surrounding grounds & gardens.”

Only drawback for us was having dogs they had access to the complete area & as they would be wanderers we couldn't let them out alone, but it didn't detract from an enjoyable holiday.

All the properties are fabulous, well positioned for trips out (narrow Devon lanes!) and relaxing if you want to stay put. Diana is a fabulous host who is very welcoming with goodies for humans and dogs. Thank you for a fabulous stay.

The cottage is in a row of cottages near to the main house with full access to all the grounds so plenty of places to walk the dogs. The owners are really nice and considerate, providing a little welcome pack for us and the dogs. Everything was perfect and we will definitely be going back.

The property is decorated and furnished to a very high standard, and is set in a very peaceful setting. Everything you need is thee. The village has an active pub (open part of the week) and shop, and it’s a good base away from busy centres, for walks or getting into Exeter and the surrounding coast and countryside. The hosts were attentive and are close by so any questions were answered very quickly.

The property was clean and just right for us with all the equipment and storage space we needed. Local walks in the woodland and fields on the estate, and around the village were perfect for our elderly dogs. There were plenty of options for day trips within a half hour drive, including coast walks, beach, market towns and villages and the city of Exeter.

We couldn't fault it - the cottage is just perfect and so well equipped with everything you could possibly think of for efficient self-catering. The grounds of Talaton House are beautifully maintained. The fields and large grass areas are ideal for exercising dogs, walking, and for children to run and play in a safe environment. Diana is an exceptional host. Wonderfully pleasant and accommodating yet discreet and unimposing. She is always available and happy to help with anything and everything, or not to be seen at all! We loved the serene location and proximity to walks, beaches, excellent pubs, farm shops, and supermarkets. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Owners were lovely. Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a luxury holiday. The finishing touches were of an extremely high standard and there wasn’t anything extra to be needed. Near enough to get to many of the attractions we wanted to visit yet felt wonderfully remote from all the hustle and bustle we wanted to escape from for a few days. The cottage itself was furnished in a high end contemporary designand was immaculately clean. The fact that the cottages are dog friendly was what interested me to start with and it offered plenty of space for our energetic dog both inside and outside. I would highly recommend the cottages.

The care and attention the owners have gone to are second to none! The property is beautifully designed and we had everything we needed. My dog was also remembered with a bag of treats and a bowl. Diana the owner was incredibly helpful and did everything she could to ensure that we felt welcome and had a pleasant stay. I cannot recommend Gardener's cottage highly enough, it is set in the most beautiful grounds of Talaton house with lovely walks just on the doorstep, a very friendly village shop and the lovely beaches such as Branscombe only a short drive away. We look forward to returning again in the future. Thank you Diana for making our first visit to East Devon so special.

Talaton House Cottages

In the heart of Talaton is striking Grade II listed Talaton House, a former rectory, renovated from its 18th century origins and surrounded by acres of beautiful parkland and specimen trees. Beside the house, the original stables, Groom's Cottage (975996) and Hayloft (975999) have been finely converted with flair into four excellent cottages, all exceptionally well done with smart design, stylish furnishings, oak/tiled floors and sleek kitchens. A sweeping drive (shared with the friendly owners & main house) leads to the cottages. They all look over scenic parkland alongside the main house and you are welcome to wander the vast lower lawns (picnic benches, barbecue area, dogs on leads welcome) and peaceful circular woodland walk. Groom's Cottage (975996), Gardener's Cottage (975997) and Barley House (975998) each have a gravelled terrace (table/seating) at the front, made private with attractive planting and pleached trees. Loading/unloading outside the cottages; shared parking area, just beyond (10 to 30 yards). An outstanding location; much thought has gone into making these superb places individual, stylish and comfortable.

Talaton

Ottery St Mary sits beside the River Otter and is well known for its literary connections to the poet Coleridge and for its beautiful church often referred to as a Exeter cathedral lookalike. Ottery St Mary is also famous for its traditional 'Tar Barrels' which attracts more than 3000 visitors on 5th November each year.
