“Is a lovely large house in a great location.”

Has lots of things you might need , nice little patio and lovely lounge with comfy sofas. Decore was lovely too. We had a great time only negatives were lack of storage space in the bedrooms, bedside tables would fix this also a tv in the bedrooms would be nice. Would recommend staying here

“An ideal holiday venue We were a group of friends of very mixed ages and found the house had something for everyone- books for toddlers to factual readers, games, toys, x box, DVD’s (and even videos plus video player) Such a short walk into town and Lidl so close was perfect.”

We loved the generous supply of crockery and the great communal table. The kitchen was everything home from home - we spotted but didn’t use slow cookers and stick blenders. Plenty to bake with as well as cook with. Our one problem was that the oven only had one shelf The cupboard of useful supplies much appreciated for the odd stock cube or tablespoon of flour and salt and pepper etc Tumble dryer, washing machine and dishwasher all newish and work well. Proper full size fridge and full size freezer. The en-suite pods in the double bed rooms are a clever idea and giving the house 4 much needed loos. No issues with WiFi or hot water Bit of a long review but these are the tips I look for

“Family of five adults ageing from 23-78 years young stayed at the property.”

It’s a lovely spacious house as described over three floors. The rear courtyard is enclosed which is good as we took our two pups. This had a table with a few chairs and also a small line to hang out your beach towels / washing. I really liked that there was two lounges as at times we could use both to do different things. At the property there are books games puzzles really thoughtful especially if you’re unlucky to get a rainy day with our weather. The kitchen was well stocked for equipment and the little touches like the toilet roll bags for the extra toilet rolls in one of the rooms made it all look part of the seaside theme. Some real effort has been made to make this a home from home. The location of the house is really too close to the town / beach and there is also a Lidl just at the bottom of the road over the main road. We unpacked our car parking across from the house did a quick Lidl trip and unpacked before moving our car to one of the local car parks, again not far to walk from the house. There is a lot of helpful information given before you arrive to help you decide where to park depending the duration of your stay.

“Dunholme House is very well positioned being so close to the shopping/beach areas.”

We found the layout suited our requirements, particularly having a second sitting room. The property is very well equipped with appliances (kitchen and living rooms). Although parking is not available at the property, we purchased a weekly voucher from the local authority and used a couple of their nearby carparks.

The location was close to town, unfortunately not having parking near the property was a little difficult with small children. But parking permits are available for town car parks, which is helpful. All issues we had were quickly sorted out but the amazing owners taking away all stress! We would recommend the area and house for a lovely holiday!

“This property was ideal for our party of 4 adults 4 children 1 toddler and a dog.”

The house was very well equipped with everything we needed, and also highchair, cot, 3 stairgates and plenty of books and games. There are 4 loos and 3 showers/bath, and so much space we sometimes didn't know the children were in the house. Slight downside of parking away from the property, but with plenty to do within Teignmouth (and we caught the train to Dawlish and Torquay as something different for the kids) this wasn't a real problem. Lidl is closeby, but best to take the heavy basics to avoid carrying them back (we loaded the toddler's buggy). Very small outdoor space at the back is totally enclosed and was nice for children and dog to sit outside if they wished. A very enjoyable week.

Only 10 minutes walk from the seafront and town centre, with a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants, etc. We really loved exploring the town’s streets and alleyways. The house is lovely, and provides one with everything you might need for relaxation and entertainment. We would love to stay there again.

“We had a wonderful long weekend break.”

Very big property with plenty of space for a large family. They have thought of everything you could possibly need. Parking was not a problem,the car parks are a few minutes away and we didnt need the car once we unloaded outside as Teignmouth has lots to offer including the ferry to take you across to Shaldon. We stayed local and didnt use the cars for the whole weekend!There is free parking if you are fit enough to walk up to off road parking near the playing fields.The property is very comfortable and welcoming.Great value for money.

“Great family house for a Christmas get together, plenty of rooms to escape into!”

! A few niggles, extractor fan in kitchen doesn't work. Pod boiler pilot light blew out twice. Lounge TV a bit troublesome but nothing too major. Good facilities, clean, tidy, close to the town. We were sorry to leave.

“The holiday was really good with the property being well located with the town only a few minutes walk.”

Although parking is an issue the car parks are very close. The property was comfortable and had everything that you needed for the stay, however, we did feel it wasn't as clean as it could be with the end of the season it might have just been a little tired. We would recommend this property for those with a family as it had an extra living room with entertainment for the kids.

“After a traumatic 2018 a holiday was most definitely needed.”

So months of saving to provide this holiday for my three daughters and elderly mother our holiday dates had finally arrived. After a very long and tiring journey. All excited for our holiday and about the property we would be staying in. But the excitement didn’t stay for long. On arrival at the property first impressions weren’t good as recycling boxes overflowing and big bin full to the top. Then NO key in the lock box so couldn’t enter the property. Contacted owner who suggested we climb through the window. Luckily my children are of an age where this was possible as myself or my mother most certainly wouldn’t have been able to do this. Once my 9 year old had managed to get into the property and opened the door we where greeted with a very strong musty smell, bits all over the hall floor, very thick cobwebs and flies above the front door. Upon further investigation to look around our holiday home we found dirty washing in the washing machine, pots in the dishwasher. kitchen cupboards smelt mouldy. Dust on shelves, behind tv, on skirting boards and that was just the first floor. Going upstairs main bathroom shower screen rubber seal not the best and ornaments, pictures, hooks all dusty/dirty. Shower heads in en-suites where black/dirty. Tv in second lounge thick with dust. Wardrobes dusty, Not good at all especially when one of your children is asthmatic. Down the side of one of the beds was sweet wrappers and somebody else’s socks so definitely not cleaned. I could go and on with what we found. Luckily the weather was on my side if we would have had to spend any long periods of time in the property I would have requested Sykes to find us somewhere else to stay. Which is a shame as it’s a good size house, in a good location with plenty of books, games and films. But it is most definitely in need of some deep cleaning as feel only the bear minimum is being done.

“Very well equipped house in a great location.”

On a very quiet road. Only a short walk to the town and beach and train station, parking wasn't an issue as we parked up the hill outside the school which is only a 5 minute walk. The kids loved the games room. First visit to teignmouth, nice friendly town, we enjoyed swimming in the lido. And took the train to dawlish Warren.

“Spacious and comfortable accommodation.”

Really good selection of DVDs,books and games. Paid £25 for weekly parking permit which was really good value as we could use it throughout Teignbridge. We stayed during Easter holidays and overnight parking was not an issue; however the nearest car park was always full during the day, possibly due to commuters using the station. For dog owners - there is a small paved yard - the nearest bit of grass for late night walks was near the station.

The whole booking process with Sykes was seamless and easy we would highly reccommend them. The house it's self was everything we expected and more. Ideally located just a short walk from shops, cafes, restaurants and the beach. The house was comfortable, clean and the facilities for families were spot on. We went armed with toys, books etc to entertain a 3 year old and 1 year old and we didn't need any of it. Everything we needed was there. I am sure we will return at some point and we have already booked our next holiday for 2018 with Sykes cottages.

“Teignmouth was a lovely, small resort.”

The house was lovely and the beach decorations were fun. The extra sitting room was excellent for the teenagers with plenty of games, CDs etc. There was lots of extra equipment in the kitchen if we had wanted to do more cooking. Lack of parking was not a problem as we could park in the road opposite. In fact, we have a lovely weekend break and I hope to go to both Teignmouth and stay at Dunholme House again.

It was very spacious and perfect for 6 adults and 2 young children. We were able to park 3 cars close by and the town shops and beach are so close we didn't use any of the vehicles during our stay. The location is very quiet, we experienced no road noise at all. Thoroughly recommend Dunholme House for a relaxing family holiday.

We loved Teignmouth, which we had not properly explored before. The furnishings were comfortable, but "lived-in", which made us feel relaxed, there was an excellent range of books, films and games and we were exceptionally lucky with the weather.

The property

A three-storey detached house in a quiet residential street in the Devon coastal town of Teignmouth.

This family-sized Teignmouth cottage has been well-restored from its original Victorian style, to provide comfortable holiday accommodation with three bathrooms and four bedrooms.

The main sitting room on the ground floor of this Teignmouth cottage has an archway leading to the dining room, ideal for family suppers, and there is a second spacious sitting room on the first floor, ideal as a children's playroom, complete with wall-mounted TV.

It is a ten minute walk from this Teignmouth cottage to the traditional pier and seafront, and there are plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants in this busy seaside town.

There are many family activities available from this Teignmouth cottage as well, including an outdoor swimming pool, skate park, adventure golf and two miles of sandy beaches.

Wander along the splendid promenade to the working port on the river side of town, and there will always be plenty of ships coming and going in this fast-flowing estuary current.

Looking across the River Teign you see the charming small Regency town of Shaldon, home to the Shaldon Wildlife Trust's breeding centre for rare mammals, and the well-known beach at Ness Cove, reached through a genuine smugglers' tunnel.

Along the coast from this Teignmouth cottage is the English Riviera, with its micro-climate, tall palm trees, well laid-out municipal gardens and large promenade, lined with ice cream shops and cafes.

Torquay is the birthplace of Agatha Christie and so there are plenty of historic reminders of the author; Torquay also provided the inspiration for the classic British comedy Fawlty Towers.

Paignton, which has a fabulous zoo and a steam train taking you to the River Dart, is another day's outing, along Torbay.

Families will find plenty of fun whilst staying at this lovely Teignmouth cottage.

TEIGNMOUTH

Dartmoor National Park 12 miles; Torbay 13 miles; Exeter 15 miles.

The historic, seaside town of Teignmouth is situated in South Devon on the mouth of the Teign estuary and boasts a working harbour, sandy beach, Victorian pier, sailing club, diving centre and sea activity centre. The seaward side of the town is known as ‘the Den’ and has elegant Georgian buildings, a large public area with lawns, play areas, tennis courts, a bowling green, and a miniature lighthouse. On the opposite side of Teignmouth are fishing boats and beach huts, plus views of the village of Shaldon and the hills of Dartmoor can be seen. Teignmouth also hosts folk and jazz festivals each year, whilst both the town and Shaldon hold annual carnivals and water regattas. If you decide to venture further afield, there is plenty to see and do close to Teignmouth including; the stunning Dartmoor National Park, the city of Exeter, plus the nearby harbour towns are well worth exploring.
