The property

Rolling fields and lush green countryside of the Axe Valley stretch out in front of The Shippon, a beautiful barn conversion that is positioned to the front of the owner’s 17th century farmstead, just outside the market town of Axminster in East Devon.

For those seeking a relaxing retreat, the opportunity to explore countryside and coast, lazy days on the beach and delicious pub lunches, this has to be the perfect base.

5 miles from the popular resort of Lyme Regis and the magnificent Jurassic Coast, The Shippon is a super choice for a family or group of friends.

Arranged over one floor although on varying levels, the barn offers 3 gorgeous bedrooms.

The master king-size bedroom sits at the far end of the barn and benefits from an en-suite shower room and stable door leading out to the courtyard.

Up three steps brings you to the light and spacious open plan living space with a kitchen, central sitting area, woodburner (Starter pack only for fire provided) and patio doors to enjoy the superb views of the countryside beyond.

Two steps lead up to the dining area and three steps up to two other bedrooms, a twin and super king double that can be presented as a twin room if required.

From the patio doors, step out to a large patio, a perfect spot for alfresco dining on summer days whilst soaking up the peaceful landscape.

The market town of Axminster is just 2 miles and has a weekly market, a number of shops and cafes, several pubs including The George Hotel and the famous River Cottage Canteen.

For young ones the Axe Valley Wildlife Park is a worthy visit, as is the Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth.

For days on the beach Lyme Regis is just 5 miles, or try your hand at some fossil hunting at nearby Charmouth.

Seaton is popular for paddleboarding and fishing and the picturesque village of Beer can be reached on foot from Seaton along the coastal path.

River Cottage HQ is just outside of Axminster for those attending weddings and events.

The Shippon makes a wonderful choice for a family holiday or break away with friends at any time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
