    “We had the most lovely, friendly welcome from Elaine and 'Ben' dog.”

    The cottage was gorgeous, comfortable and well-equipped. There was peace, quiet, bird song and bleating sheep. Just perfect! Nothing was too much trouble and Elaine left a delicious welcome tray of chocolate cake and tea/coffee for our arrival. The local area has lots to do but some tourist/seaside places not open in March, so be aware. The pannier market in South Molton & Quince Honey Farm are worth a visit. We will be returning. Thank you Elaine & Michael. So pleased we found your little gem ...

The property

This attractive detached barn conversion has an open plan living area, a double bedroom, twin bedroom and bathroom.

There are beams in most rooms giving it character and modern décor to bring it right up to date.

The cottage feels spacious yet cosy, with comfy leather sofas to sink into after a day in the countryside.

Looking out over the grazing sheep and green meadows gives a sense of really being away from it all.

Poadmarsh Farm Cottages

South Molton 6 miles. These two detached holiday cottages are situated on the owners’ working sheep farm, on the edge of Exmoor, and close to the market town of South Molton in Devon. Approached along a private lane, the original 18th century barn conversions have been renovated with much care to provide a welcoming and comfortable home from home. Both of these delightful cottages provide a convenient base for families and friends who wish to explore the wonderful Exmoor National Park and North Devon coast. Jack’s Nest is all on one level and may be suitable for less able guests with fabulous views across the farm meadows, providing a quiet setting for a holiday for two within this part of Devon. Owl’s Nest on the other hand is a two-storey cottage sleeping four people. This welcoming cottage is surrounded by green meadows and has far reaching views towards Exmoor, making it a peaceful place to stay. Outside, both cottages have their own enclosed lawned garden and BBQ area. Discover the footpaths that lead from the farm through the lovely landscape providing easy walks from your door; the location is perfect for those who would like to explore the area; with Exmoor just across the valley you can enjoy a variety of landscapes, exhilarating walks, an abundance of wildlife and cosy pubs. The stunning North Devon coastline is just a 30 minute drive and offers rocky coves; sandy beaches and everything in-between; surfing, hiking, rook pooling, crabbing or simply relaxing! A 10-minute drive takes you to the town of South Molton, with its well-known pannier market selling local produce, Quince Honey, a family run working bee farm, Melchior Chocolates and a good selection of independent shops, pubs and cafés. Jack’s Nest and Owl’s Nest provide quality accommodation with a huge welcome in a stunning rural setting.

Combe Martin 19 miles; Ilfracombe 24 miles; Woolacombe 25 miles.

The attractive market town of South Molton is known as The Gateway to Exmoor and is ideally placed in North Devon, boasting a range of shops, amenities and a twice weekly market. Being pleasantly situated not far from both coastal and inland beauty spots it will suit visitors of all tastes. In close proximity are forests, moors, rivers and coast, with churches and other buildings of historical significance. Residents find the quiet charm of the area attractive and visitors soon experience the sense of civic pride held by the locals. There is superb walking on the South West Coast Path and the North Devon beaches are varied and interesting. Visit the National Trust's Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as highlights such as Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the village of Withypool. Further afield, the resorts of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are well worth a visit, and for some of the best beaches in the country, visit Woolacombe and Saunton and Croyde.
