The cottage has a gorgeous private garden to the side of the property which was a lovely place to have your early morning coffee and fortunately the weather was glorious. David “Fantastic! What an amazing job Brian and Gillian have done with this little gem in the Dorset countryside.”
Not a single tiny detail has been overlooked. From the high end appliances to the quality crockery and cutlery and all the special little touches in between. All spotlessly clean We have never stayed in such a well cared for and appointed property. The local goods welcome pack and the fresh flowers just put a cap on the whole stay. Thanks so much David and Pat Pinnock, North Wales

Neale “The cottage was outstanding.”
As soon as we pulled through the gates to the spacious drive it had a very welcoming and comforting feel. The cottage is very well presented a real home from home. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. It had everything you could ever need. A very spacious living area with two very comfortable sofas a large tv dining table and a very well equipped kitchen. Upstairs two very comfortable bedrooms with memory foam mattresses on the beds and a large bathroom with a large bath and separate shower with lashings of hot water. A private garden with new table and chairs makes the stay even more pleasant. We looked forward to returning to the cottage at the end of each day's exploring. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. An absolute gem of a place.

G “A spotlessly clean lovely first class property with all the facilities you could need or want.”
A welcome tray with essentials was a nice touch. The only downside was the bed was very hard ( a personal choice but it was hard) also the use of labels everywhere ( even on obvious things) was a bit odd. We wouldn’t return but that is no reflection on the cottage but on the location…too many narrow winding roads.
- G, October 2022Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you found the bed hard - we have not had complaints from other guests and as you say, it is a matter of personal preference. Regarding the use of labels, we find that guests do not alway take the time to read the Information Folder we provide or the email we send before their stay, with pre-arrival information, so we use laels to help guests - what may be obvious to one person isn't so clear to another. Yes, we are in a rural location with narrow winding roads, but that means very little traffic noise or delays and plenty of opportunities to appreciate the countryside. Property Owner

Celia “Very pleased with the cottage and was exactly as described in the listing.”

- Celia, June 2022Thank you for your positive feedback and for your kind words - much appreciated. We are glad that you had an enjoyable stay at Belview Cottage and you would be most welcome to stay here again. Thank you also for leaving the cottage in excellent order - it really helps us when we do the changeover. Property Owner

Linda “We had a wonderful holiday at Belview Cottage - the photos looked really good when we booked, but they don't really do it justice.”
The cottage is in a fabulous rural location with a lovely garden and is very peaceful with just the sounds of birds to wake up to. The nearby Blackmore Vale area is excellent for walking and there are dedicated cycle trails nearby. Great pubs with good food too. The cottage itself is spacious, well equipped with quality applicances, warm, comfortable and above all immaculately clean and well decorated. It has everything you might want including electric car charger and super fast broadband. We've never before stayed in a cottage that we'd give top marks to on all aspects. Outstanding.
- Linda, March 2022Thank you so much for your kind words - it's good to know guests appreciate our hard work maintaining the cottage to a high standard. Thank you for leaving it in excellent order - much appreciated. You would be most welcome to stay here again. Property Owner

Henry “'Belview' is one of the cleanest, best equipped and comfortable holiday cottages we have stayed in.”
The location is very rural, quiet and with lovely views across the Dorset countryside. The cows were curious but friendly. Gillian and Brian were discrete hosts but made us feel very at home with a welcome-pack of local produce. A nice touch. There are a good number of nice places to eat in the area but we would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. We would certainly recommend a stay there.
- Henry, September 2021 -
Sandra “Belview Cottage far surpassed our expectations.”
Everything was first class

Valerie “Belview Cottage was immaculate and had everything we could possibly have needed, including a very generous welcome pack of Dorset food goodies.”
Gillian, the owner, was extremely pleasant but not intrusive. The cottage was set in idyllic peaceful countryside (apart from the cows mooing and tractors trundling past!). We look forward to returning next year. Val and Adrian Filmer.
- Valerie, June 2021 -
Lesley “This was a last minute booking and we couldn’t have been more pleased with Belview Cottage.”
It was so clean and the facilities were excellent. Gillian and Brian had thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. The location also was great, especially if you are looking to get away from everything. Great if you like walking but also areas you can drive to within 30mins. Fully recommend and I hope to book again next year.
- Lesley, October 2020 -
Neil “We've stayed in a number of cottages across the UK and this genuinely was the cleanest we've stayed in.”
The owners took great care to ensure we had a great experience from start to finish. It is a very well equipped and cosy cottage to return to after a day out exploring. Good location with lots of Dorset's star attractions within easy driving distance.
- Neil, August 2020 -
Keith “The cottage was lovely ,but the bedroom on the front room was not very good for a double bed ,with the eves slopping far to much .”
one room up stairs would better
- Keith, February 2020We are sorry that you were not happy with the double bedroom. The rooms are described fully in the advert and can also be seen in the photographs. It is up to guests to check the properties suitability for their requirements before they make a booking. We took on the cottage as an existing holiday let business with two bedrooms. To convert it to one bedroom would require considerable expense on structural work and re-decoration and would also limit our pool of potential guests to couples or single adults only instead of families and friends. As we are unable to do this at present, we do our best to make sure that all other aspects of the property are presented and maintained to the highest standards we can achieve, as proven by our annual Four Star with Gold Award under the Visit England Quality Assessment Scheme. We have let this property for over 12 years with many satisfied guests, including several who make frequent return visits. Property Owner

Debbie “Perfect cottage, perfect location!”
The cottage was absolutely immaculate - the best we have ever stayed in!
- Debbie, December 2019 -
John “The cottage is still very new and beautifully equipped, the lounge is lovely and comfortable for relaxing.”
The kitchen is superbly fitted out and easy to use with every little detail thought of. The bedrooms are warm and well lit, the only fly in the ointment being the roofline either side of the dormers, which in the double room, entailed my climbing over the bed as banging my head (my fault) was a bit wearing. The location is wonderful and funny and the satnav struggled but always got us within 200mts. Overall a wonderful escape.
- John, September 2019 -
Edward “Very well equipped cottage, very clean and with everything we needed for our week stay.”

About the location
STURMINSTER NEWTON
Blandford Forum 11 miles.
The small, attractive market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six-arch, 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation to those who may damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage Coast is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round!
