“Katherine & Nigel, really looked after us.”

Nothing was too much trouble. We were even given a private tour of the race horse stables which was amazing. The accommodation was perfect and the location beautiful. Surrounded by the Devonshire countryside and close to lots of attractions. Would love to visit again

Thorne Farm Estate

This historic, 17th century former estate has been lovingly converted into two well-equipped barn conversions, situated in the grounds of Thorne Farm Estate within 250 acres, amidst the beautiful mid Devon countryside. Set in a secluded valley, this is a superb walking location and there’s even a chance to spot wild red deer, hares, swallows and woodpeckers, immersing yourself in a wildlife haven just a few steps from the cottage door. The house contains a quirky interior with exposed stonework, wooden beams and vaulted ceilings dating back hundreds of years, whilst the south facing aspect gives it a light and airy feel. Outside, each of the cottages come with an enclosed courtyard garden with hot tub and furniture, plus there is a nearby paddock where you can watch the horses take on the jumps. The estate lends itself to many walks whilst the surrounding area is characterised by rolling hills and scattered woodland. The nearby village of Stoodleigh is home to a charming pub, The Stoodyleigh Inn, where you can end your evenings with a well-earned glass of vino. Head into Bampton to find your nearest convenience store, or stop off at the National Trust landmarks of Knightshayes Gardens and Knightshayes Court on your way into Tiverton, which is also accessible by car. Thorne Farm Estate provides a relaxing retreat to Mid Devon.
