The property

Situated on the edge of the Mendip Hills, in a rural setting is this superb 300-year-old property, renovated to its now excellent condition, The Retreat is a hidden gem in lovely Somerset.

Suited perfectly to a large family or a group of couples looking for a quiet, peaceful break in the country, whilst still being not too far from the coast and the larger towns.

Coming into the front door you can hang up your coats and take off your shoes in the entry hallway where there is ample storage space, and continue through into the snug, a cosy space with a settee and complete with woodburning stove, for those chilly winter days when you'd prefer to lounge with a good book than venture outside.

For when you'd like to gather round and spend time together go into the sitting room, which features three windows allowing you to appreciate the scenic views of the natural beauty outside, while you enjoy each other's company in this beautiful stylish room.

Open plan living is what this renovated cottage does best, it has a modern fitted hand crafted kitchen, where you'll love preparing and making meals on the quartz worktop with integrated appliances.

A log burner and seating area immediately across from the kitchen island is ideal for those rainy, cold days.

The large oak dining table is situated in the conservatory area of this stunning room.

Beautiful painted wooden bi-folding doors open out onto the patio area accessing the garden where you can sit out on the garden furniture in summer while the children play on the lawn.

A large utility room also leads off the kitchen.

One of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor, a double room with a large en-suite bathroom containing a bath, separate double shower, basin and WC, making it possible for those needing ground floor living facilities to enjoy a Somerset break with the family as well.

The other three bedrooms are located on the first floor, with the master benefiting from an en-suite shower room, and the other two rooms still home to their original fireplaces, kept as an ornate feature that adds wonderful character to the rooms.

Take at least 30-minutes out of your day and run a hot bath in the stunning freestanding bath in the first floor family bathroom, lose yourself as you gaze out of the window at the rolling hills in the distance, and relax!

Lympsham has its own village shop and post office which is open daily where you can buy your essentials.

This is next to Lympsham Pavillion, which is licensed and open to the public where you can buy a drink while watching a game of cricket in the summer or cheering on the skittle team in the winter.

A 24-hour fresh milk store and farm shop can be found at Brent House Farm on the way to East Brent.

For a lovely day out and some seaside air, there are plenty of options.

Visit Uphill just 4.25 miles away, climb up to the old church of St Nicholas which dates back to 1080 or access the Brean Down Way cycle route for a safe and picturesque cycle ride for the whole family.

Enjoy the long stretches of sandy beaches at Brean Down just 5.3 miles and visit Brean Down Fort at the tip of Brean Down.

Weston-super-Mare with its Grand Pier and plenty of restaurants is just over 6 miles away.

Practically on your doorstep are the Mendip Hills, so make sure to pack your walking shoes and get outside, with a variety of popular activities available to try including horse riding, caving, climbing and fishing.

For the days when you don’t want to take the car out take a walk from the Retreat’s doorstep or a cycle ride along the quiet country lanes.

Two adult size bikes are available for your use.

The Retreat will astound you just as much as the stunning natural beauty surrounding you, with its quality decor and excellent layout, you and your loved ones will make memories you'll never forget!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
