“Thanks Sara and Ozgur for a lovely fortnight at The Hayloft, a real proper break for our family.”

It's such an idyllic place, thanks for sharing it with us. We love the hot tub and the close proximity to loads of days out and amazing beaches.

Thank you for your complimentary, positive feedback Gareth, we're really happy that The Hayloft delivered you & your lovely family, the 2 week summer holiday you were looking for - you certainly packed it all in!! It was so nice to see you all unwind, relax, recharge & make lasting family memories as your stay went on - that's all that matters really. We're frustrated & disaapointed that, in the final 48 hours, a water leak in the bathroom impacted your stay :-(( We're happy to report the 'pesky pipe' has been located, repaired & the shower, complete with hot water on demand, is now back up & running as one would hope ;-) Thank you for taking it all in your stride. Best wishes to you, Becky & your lovely daughters - Sara Property Owner

About the location

HONITON

Ottery St Mary 5.6 miles; Lyme Regis 14.2 miles; Exeter 16.7 miles.

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the town’s Allhallows Museum. Honiton boasts the only public art gallery in East Devon; the Thelma Hulbert Gallery occupies an attractive Grade I listed Victorian house, and has links with the Hayward Gallery, London. Honiton is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have much to occupy the visitor. Near to Honiton is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and fabulous restaurants.

Blackdown Cottage Escapes at Lower Lye is an historic Grade 2* listed medieval hall house, this property is based on the farmstead on the grounds. The holiday cottages & curtilage are therefore listed by association. The site, because of its age & heritage has many uneven, non-level surfaces. Much of the outside amenity space & paths are cobbled. There is also open water & several streams. Whilst these features add to the character & charm here & we do not wish to exclude children or those less stable on their feet, it might well be that we are not best suited to their requirements.

This property offers the following short breaks:

  • Winter
  • Off-season
