“Just back from a lovely week in Watchet.”

Cottage had everything we needed. Spent hours sat looking out over the sea. Watchet itself is a real treat, a number of pubs, bars and eateries and the friendliest people who all stopped for a chat. Great location to explore from, we loved Dunster and it's castle, Lynmouth and Lynton and Minehead as well as fossil beach nearby.

The property

In Watchet, a 'toes in the water' cottage with terrific views over the beach to Wales.

Once part of a row of early Victorian fishermen's cottages, now smartly transformed with the old net-drying loft converted into a comfortable look-out across the Bristol Channel.

At the back, your own enclosed, partly covered courtyard with stable doors to footpath (shared with immediate neighbour) and own terrace (picnic table/chairs) above the beach.

Door from pavement into living/dining room with Smart TV; kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, electric oven/gas hob) with back door to courtyard with wet room shower and separate WC.

From the courtyard, stairs up to the 'net loft' sitting room with Smart TV, PlayStation 3 and fantastic sea views.

Back in the cottage, steep stairs up to a double bedroom (5' bed) and spacious bathroom (suite, shower over bath, two washbasins); more stairs up to two further bedrooms under the eaves (sloping ceilings) - a single with sea view, and a twin (hooks for clothes-hanging).

Car park, 100 yards; permit provided for one car.

A surprisingly spacious, characterful cottage with 21st century comfort, 100 yards from pubs and shops.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

WATCHET

Minehead 9 miles.

Watchet is a delightful, small Somerset harbour town with a maritime history going back over two millennia, where visitors may enjoy the variety of quaint shops on offer and watch the boats in the marina. Watchet attracts railway enthusiasts from all around, as The West Somerset Railway, twenty miles of preserved steam railway, passes through Watchet and continues through stunning scenery to the coastal town of Minehead, approximately nine miles away. There are superb walks along the coast from Watchet, while towards St Audries in the east, the Quantock Hills rise to 1,000 feet above the sea and the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are to the west, within easy reach. Explore the many pretty coastal and inland villages including Porlock, with its steep hill and pretty winding streets, Dunster with its dramatic castle perched above the historic village and the busy resort of Minehead with its sandy beach, golf course and traditional seaside attractions. This is an excellent choice of holiday destination for rural beauty, dramatic coastline and splendid walking.
