Swandown, 11 The Cygnet, is located on the select gated development of Swandown which comprises just twenty Scandinavian-style lodges forming part of the Cricket St. Thomas country estate.
It is equidistant between the market towns of Chard to the west and Crewkerne to the east.
This lodge faces due south and enjoys stunning views over the estate and the countryside beyond.
The cathedral style windows and patio doors in the lounge area give uninterrupted views and allows access to the terrace and garden enabling this suntrap to be enjoyed from early morning through to the evening.
The open plan design allows the whole kitchen, dining and lounge areas to enjoy the views and gives a light and spacious feel to the accommodation.
The lodge is tastefully and individually furnished with a large sofa and two reclining individual leather chairs which can either be turned outwards to enjoy the view or inward to enjoy the wood burner during chillier evenings.
There is a Smart TV with power amplifier, Blue-Ray DVD player and DAB radio together with a selection of DVDs, books and board games.
The kitchen is fully equipped not only with all necessary electrical appliances but also with everything needed to produce home cooked delights including a steamer, wok and all the necessary preparation equipment.
Meals can be taken either in the dining area or on sunny days outside on the patio where table, chairs and a parasol enables enjoyment of the beautiful English countryside.
A barbeque is available together with all the necessary apparatus to enjoy alfresco dining.
The bedrooms, both with king size beds and white linen each have ensuite facilities and the master bedroom has a TV and access via patio doors to the terrace.
Immediately to the side of the property is the lodge’s private off-road parking area with space for two vehicles.
THE SWANDOWN SITE.
Swandown Lodges are situated on the borders of South Somerset, West Dorset and East Devon within the stunning 1,000-acre parkland of the historic Cricket St. Thomas Estate.
The on-site facilities, include an indoor swimming pool, scenic walking and cycling trails, a children’s adventure trail, a football area, and the adults only Cricket St. Thomas Hotel leisure complex, this includes a large indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, steam room and gymnasium.
There is a wide selection of dining options within an easy 15 minute travelling time of Swandown and shops are available in Chard (including Sainsbury, Tesco and Lidl) and in Crewkerne (Waitrose), both approximately 4 miles distant.
The Cricket St. Thomas Golf Club is located on the A30 less than a mile away and the club provides members and visitors alike the chance to play on a beautiful parkland course with outstanding views across the surrounding countryside - please check locally for availability and charges.
There are small local museums in Chard and Crewkerne and the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil and also of interest is Forde Abbey which is located very close by.
For the enthusiastic walker there is the South West Coast Path, part of which is the Jurassic Coastline, a UNESCO World Heritage site which spans 95 miles and holds some of the finest beach and coastal scenery in Britain.
Access is available at various points including Beer (East Devon) and Lyme Regis (West Dorset) approximately 30 minutes drive from Swandown.
